Report on the achievements at the chess-olympics for students of the district
Two of my classmates, Tamás Konyecsni and Benedek Szilágyi, and I took part in the chess olympics for students of the district on the 18th of January in 2023. Our teacher, Ádám Radnai offered us the opportunity, which we had no intention of turning down. Recently, all three of us developed a passion for chess, so we were happy to hear the news and signed up as soon as possible.
The competition could be entered both individually and as a team. With this in mind, we signed up for both categories. The team was represented by all three of us and Benedek entered the category for individuals too. None of us had participated in a competition like this before, so there was a healthy amount of stress and anticipation in all of us. The individual matches started earlier, after which the competition continued with team matches. Before our turn, we tried to warm up our brain with some quick games . After the matches were over, we could feel that we were very tired mentally.
At the end of the event, we managed to achieve second place individually and third place as a team. We thoroughly enjoyed the program and feel that we gained a lot of experience from the competition.
