Why should I be upstanding? They will strike me down anyway!
Why shouldn’t I be upstanding! They will strike me down anyway!” (Attila József)
I graduated from Eszterházy Károly College (now Eszterházy Károly Catholic University) as a teacher of Hungarian and English with a specialisation in European Union technical language (translation module). I am currently writing my doctoral thesis: my research fields are language skill development and language planning. I teach Hungarian language (and not just grammar!), Hungarian literature and thesis writing at Veritas.
I believe I am characterised by thoroughness, consistency, and structural thinking, both as a person and as a teacher. I like complex, comprehensive, insightful approaches, and people who can see several layers of reality simultaneously, who can really reflect on and weigh things – to judge, but not to be judgemental. I believe it is important to continuously develop and improve, to understand and make others understand, not only on the rational but also on the emotional and spiritual level.
Therefore, in addition to teaching the certain units of a subject and preparing students for the school-leaving exams, I consider it just as important to educate students, to show them how to be consistent and just, to see the world in a complex way, and to be able to believe in this, in themselves, in others and in the transcendent. This is why and how I returned to be a teacher at Veritas.
